Near the end of June 2023, The Wall Street Journal announced that a penthouse at Soho loft building 151 Wooster Street found a buyer for $50,000,000. The apartment is a combination of multiple units, measures approximately 10,000 square feet, and was renovated by Baird Architects. If it closes for this asking price, it will narrowly set a new record for Soho; the current record holder was a $49,000,000 penthouse at The Tulip Building on Broome Street.
Because the penthouse at 151 Wooster Street was never publicly listed and took place in an off-market deal, it was not picked up by Olshan Realty's luxury market report. The top contract they recorded was for the penthouse at 180 East 88th Street, which entered contract with a $29,000,000 asking price. It was originally listed for $28 million when the building began marketing off floor plans in 2017; the price was raised to $33 million in 2022, but lowered to $29 million in January 2023. The five-bedroom triplex with multiple private terraces is located in its neighborhood's tallest building, but is best known for its appearance as Kendall Roy's apartment in an episode from the last season of Succession. As the buyer of this sponsor unit was not identified, we cannot say whether they were a fan of the show or not.
