Carter's Review

This very handsome, 9-story, waterfront, residential condominium building at 290 West Street at Canal Street in TriBeCa is notable for its stunning multipane fenestration with dark grey, powder-coated aluminum frames.

It was developed in 2015 by VE Equities of which Zack Vella and Justin Ehrlich are principals.

It was designed by Adjmi & Andreioli.

The building, which is also known as 538 Canal Street, has only 13 units.


 

Bottom Line

A very elegant, crisp and modern, mid-rise building with few units, high ceilings and stunning façades at the north end of TriBeCa overlooking the Hudson River.


 

Description

A strongly rectilinear, riverfront building with high ceilings and large windows handsomely framed in dark gray aluminum frames.


 

Amenities

The building has a roof deck, a gym, a children’s playroom, a bicycle room and storage.


 

Apartments

Apartments has ceilings almost 11 feet high and much higher in the penthouses.

The units have oversize windows and wide-plank 5-inch rift sawn white oak floors, and GE washers and dryers.

Kitchens have Italian Dada white matte lacquer center island with 2-inch thick mitered Carrara marble waterfall countertop in a honed finish, honed Carrara marble countertops and backsplashes, Bosch stainless steel 5-burner cooktop, Bosch 24-inch dishwashers and Liebherr refrigerators and recessed lighting.

Master baths have 24-inch honed statuary marble wall tiles in a running bond pattern, double vanities with white Cristalplant countertops and a Duravit commode.

Penthouse A is a 4-bedroom duplex unit with 3,34 square feet of interior space and 1,478 square feet of exterior space, with a great room, a dining room and an open kitchen and one bedroom and the large terrace on the  lower level and three bedrooms and a long gallery on the 8th floor.

Penthouse B is a 3-bedroom duplex with 2,736 square feet of interior space and 416 square feet of external space on the 7th floor and with a great room, dining room and enclosed, eat-in kitchen on the 7th floor and the bedrooms on the 8th floor.

Apartment B on the third through the fifth floor is a three-bedroom with 2,241 square feet with a 26-foot-long great rooms next to an enclosed, 20-foot-long, eat-in kitchen.

Apartment A on the third through the fifth floors is a 4-bedroom unit with 2,513 square feet with a 26-foot-long great room adjacent to a 14-foot-long open kitchen.
