17 Monitor Street is a five story pre-war rental building in Greenpoint, originally constructed in 1906 as St. Cecilia Roman Catholic School and converted to 69 apartments in 2016. Its orange brick façade retains arched windows, decorative spandrels and lintels, four gables, and a six step stoop leading to a large arched entrance.
The conversion was developed by Malky Landau and Meir David Tabak and designed by ND Architecture & Design P.C., led by architect Nataliya Donskoy. Inside, the lobby has long wooden benches, decorative wall niches, and a glass art wall. Some of the building's loft apartments use steep metal staircases to connect their levels, and one two bedroom layout is organized as a duplex with a bedroom above a finished basement.
Apartments commonly have high ceilings, hardwood floors, large windows, central air conditioning, and kitchens with stainless steel appliances and dishwashers. Many also have in-unit laundry, while the building provides a laundry room. Shared amenities include a rooftop terrace with city views, fitness center, yoga room, lounge, game room, bike room, on-site parking, virtual doorman, live-in superintendent, package room, and security cameras.
17 Monitor Street is near the Grand Street L station and other public transportation in the Greenpoint and Williamsburg area. Pets are allowed.
