About 22 River Terrace
Located in Battery Park City between the Esplanade, Rockefeller Park and the Tear Drop Park, 22 River Terrace was erected in 2001 and was designed by Gruzen Samton Steinglass.
The red-brick building has many corner windows and one setback. It has an entrance marquee, a sundeck on the 18th floor, a fitness center, a bicycle room, a package room, a 24-hour attended lobby and valet service.
Apartments have windowed kitchens and some have walk-in closets.
Kitchens have ceramic tile floors, White Shaker-style cabinetry with recessed panels and clear glass planels, stainless steel sinks with Whirlpool appliances. and granite counterops and backsplashes. Bathroom fixtures are by Kohler.
The 27-story building was developed by Rockrose Development Corporation and it has 324 rental apartments.
In January, 2000, the Battery Park City Authority began to require developers to install appliances that are 35 percent more energy-efficient than required by existing state energy standards and to use building materials that have recycled contents and reduced toxity to ease the building's environmental impacts. Construction of 22 River Terrace started before the new guidelines went into effect, but the developer voluntarily added green elements to the project including energy-saving glazing as well as motion sensors and fluorescent lighting in public areas to increase energy efficiency.
