This very handsome, 12-story, pre-war commercial building has been converted into 126 cooperative apartments.
The building has a three-story limestone base and very attractive decorative piers between its large windows. Its nice cornice indicates that the building was apparently developed in two stages and the western third of the broad building has a wider spacing between two window bays than the remainder of the building.
The building's first floor retail spaces are occupied by the Princeton Ski Shop.
The building's one-step-up, canopied entrance leads to a small but brightly lit modern lobby. The building, which permits protruding air-conditioners, is half a block from the famous Flatiron Building at the intersection of Fifth Avenue, Broadway and 23rd Street and one block south of Madison Square Park. It is close to Gramercy Park. The area has many impressive restaurants including a few on this block.
