Overview of Park West Village at 788 Columbus Avenue
Park West Village is a collection of three residential buildings located on Manhattan's Upper West Side, spanning 97th to 100th Streets between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenues. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 1960, the development was initially known as Manhattantown and later West Park Apartments. It was part of a controversial urban renewal project led by William Zeckendorf and the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa).
The buildings offer a range of modern amenities, including a 24 hour doorman, fitness centers, landscaped outdoor seating areas, and on-site children's playgrounds. Many apartments feature spacious layouts, modern finishes, and in-unit washers and dryers. Residents enjoy easy access to Central Park, Columbia University, and a variety of shops and dining options, including Whole Foods and Trader Joe's.
Park West Village is well-connected with multiple MTA bus routes and subway lines (1, 2, 3, B, C) nearby, making commuting convenient. The recent renaissance of the Upper West Side has increased the area's popularity, offering a vibrant lifestyle in one of Manhattan's most desirable neighborhoods.
