Tapestry is a 12 story, 185 unit mixed income rental at 245 East 124th Street in East Harlem. Completed in 2010, it was designed by Pei Cobb Freed & Partners with MHG Architects. Jonathan Rose Companies and Lettire Construction Corporation developed the LEED accredited building, which incorporates a green roof. Rectilinear bay windows animate the red brick façade, while a wall hanging by Ivan Chermayeff overlooks the lobby concierge desk.
The apartment mix ranges from studios to three bedrooms across 26 layouts, including two duplexes. Apartments have expansive double or triple glazed windows and room by room digital heat controls, and large projecting bay windows shape most layouts. In-unit laundry is limited to part of the apartment mix, while two shared laundry rooms serve the building.
The building has a full time doorman, a 24 hour concierge and a live-in superintendent. Its shared spaces include a fitness center, screening room, lounge, bike room, resident storage and mail room, along with a rooftop terrace and landscaped outdoor seating areas. A full service garage provides on-site parking, and pets are allowed.
The building is on East 124th Street between Second and Third avenues, with the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge approach to the east. The 4, 5 and 6 trains stop at the 125th Street station on Lexington Avenue, while Metro North serves the Harlem 125th Street station at Park Avenue.
