Anagram NoMad is a 50 story, 392 apartment rental tower completed in 1999 as the Madison Belvedere. Designed by Schuman Lichtenstein Claman + Efron for Rose Associates, it is marked by an illuminated gilded mansard cap and was later known as Instrata NoMad before taking its current name.
The mid-block tower rises from a landscaped public plaza facing 28th Street, with a broad entrance and red granite base on 29th Street. Balconies begin around the 17th floor, while the upper ten floors step back at the corners. North facing apartments look over the low rise compound of the Church of the Transfiguration toward the Empire State Building, and the plaza opens additional views to the south.
Apartments have high ceilings, double pane windows and central air, and many have private balconies. The building has a 24 hour doorman, concierge, fitness center, 360 degree roof deck with a resident lounge, courtyard and children's playroom. Laundry is available on each floor, supplemented by valet service, a full service garage, bike storage and resident storage.
Madison Square Park is a few blocks south, with the Flatiron District and Union Square beyond it; Herald Square, Fifth Avenue and Chelsea are also close by. An on-site restaurant, business center, mail room and library round out the shared facilities, and pets are permitted.
