Review of 1400 Hudson Street by Carter Horsley

This very attractive, 12-story residential building at 1400 Hudson Street in the Hudson Tea complex in Hoboken has 236 condominium apartments.

It was built in 2016 by Toll Brothers City Living and designed by Dewitt Tishman.

Andres Escobar did the interiors.

The building is one block from the Hudson River and close to the NY Waterway ferry and 14 acres of riverfront parks.

Residents have a complimentary shuttle service to the nearby PATH and NJ Transit station and the downtown ferry terminal.

Toll Brothers acquired the Hudson Tea site in 2003 and have converted two of its buildings to residential condominiums, Harborside Lofts and 1450 Washington, and is planning to add another condominium building.

Bottom Line

This very handsome, red-brick, mid-rise condominium building is part of Toll Brothers City Living Hudson Tea complex a block from the Hudson River in Hoboken with many amenities and a charming “rain garden” of crossed wooden path over sunken plantings by its entrance,.

Description

The red-brick buildings have some corner balconies and numerous bay windows.  The end building is 12-story and the longer building is 9 stories enclosing a courtyard.

The lobby has a feature wall that emulates old factory windows with thin rustic metal mullions around old wired glass designed to “evoke the feeling of a looking glass into the area’s industrial past” and “a clean, contemporary white ceiling is torn away over the reception desk, leaving exposed rough wood beams.”

The building has discrete air-conditioners and the “rain garden” next to the canopied entrance is very attractive with a wooden path with railing angling across sunken plantings.

Amenities

The building has full-time concierges and doormen, a fitness center, a children’s playroom, a dog wash room, on-site parking, a landscaped courtyard, a rain garden, a rooftop pool and two roof terraces, bicycle storage and private storage.
