A mid-block condominium apartment tower of about 20 stories is planned for the west side of Broadway between Leonard and Franklin Streets in TriBeCa.

Several renderings of the proposed 85-unit project are on the website of Swanke Hayden Connell Architects, but the website does not mention the name of the developer, the specific address, or construction timetable.

It said the building will have one-, two- and three-bedroom units and penthouses.

"Initially inspired by the classic 19th century cast iron facades of the neighborhood, the design reinterprets their major horizontal and minor vertical lines into an original and contemporary composition. Structural frames evoke Tribeca?s industrial character; fenestration and colors present a clean, modern building amid the vibrantly gritty environs. The sheer-window-wall street fa?ade creates an iconic identity that will be seen up and down Broadway," the website proclaimed.

The project, according to the website takes advantage of the city?s Quality Housing Program and Inclusionary Housing Bonus and will have balconies on its upper floors.

From the renderings on the website, the handsome, blue-green-clad tower appears to be about half a block to the north of 88 Leonard Street, a large rental building under construction on the southwest corner of Broadway.

A phone call today from CityRealty.com to the project architect at Swanke Hayden Connell was not returned.
