Six homes are up for grabs reserved for one- to four-person households earning 60% of the area median income. Available through the lottery process are three one-bedrooms renting at $1,035/month and three two-bedrooms renting at $1,175/month. The elevatored building amenities include a roof deck, gym/recreation room, and a washer/dryer in each unit.
Per the flyer, prospective applicants can apply through mail or online through nyc.gov/housingconnect. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to Eshokol Development Corp., 207 West 115th Street, # 32, New York, NY, 10026. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than January 29, 2017. Late applications will not be considered.
The building replaces a midblock vacant lot and has a total of 29 units spread across five floors. The red-brick building has oversized windows, built-in air conditioning units and a furnished common area for gatherings. When leasing commenced on the market-rate apartments last year, one-bedrooms were priced from $2,500/month, two-bedrooms from $2,933/month and three-bedrooms from $4,950/month.
198 19th Street is situated at the junction of South Slope and Gowanus, between 4th and 5th avenues. The building is a short walk from the Prospect Avenue subway station serving the R train and has easy access to the BQE and Prospect Expressway.
