In the Financial District near Trinity Church and the new World Trade Center, Trinity Place is teeming with new construction as 77 Greenwich Street nears completion and the commerical office and community building at 76 Trinity Place is set to open. For the currently embattled hospitality sector, several mid-size hotels have risen in the area and next on the table is a 180-room Marriott Aloft Manhattan Hotel at the corner of Trinity and Rector Street. The 26-story project is now three floors out of the ground and if all goes according to plan, the new inn should debut by 2022.

According to renderings released by Peter Poon Architects, the new hotel will have a seven-story base and a multi-faceted tower. An open, double-height marquee will welcome guests and set the building apart at street level. The corner facing the churchyard will be opened with floor-to-ceiling windows all the way to the top, and guest rooms facing Rector Street will feature direct views to the church. Interiors will draw inspiration from the area's loft-like apartments and feature high ceilings, prominent architectural elements, and urban industrial furnishings.
Permits on file show that there will be eight rooms on the third through eighth floors, then seven rooms per floor on the ninth through twenty-sixth. A bar and lounge area, undoubtedly the chain's popular W XYZ Bar, will be adjacent to the lobby. Additional amenities include meeting rooms,ground-floor restaurant, and a fitness center.
