Elton Crossing (899 Elton Avenue), a 12-story, 263-unit project developed in partnership with Briarwood Organization and Phipps Houses, has nearly reached completion. The curved complex designed by Magnusson Architecture and Planning comprises two connected buildings: one supportive housing for low-income veterans and one affordable building. Shared amenities will include a rooftop agricultural garden, landscaped seating area, fitness center with changing rooms and showers, on-site laundry, and parking spaces. Opening is expected in early 2018.
Applications are being accepted for the 199 affordable units. New Yorkers earning 30, 40, 50, 60, and 100 percent of the area median income are encouraged to apply, and more details and criteria can be found at 6sqft.
Elton Crossing is located across the street from Boricua College’s Bronx campus and next door to Bronx Commons. This mixed-use development will be anchored by Bronx Music Hall, a music venue and arts-based community center, and expected for 2019. Yankee Stadium and several subway lines are a few blocks away.
