About four and a half years after permits were filed, work is underway on a six-story, 11-unit rental building at 29-15 Newtown Avenue in Astoria. The two buildings that used to be on the site were demolished, and the excavation is nearly complete. The building will have a steel and masonry facade and an elevator. Its bike room and proximity to the Astoria Boulevard subway stop will provide residents with their choice of transportation options. The architect of record is Propylaea Architecture, which filed the permits on behalf of owner Double T Corporation.
