As recent events indicate, Flushing appears to be getting ready to give Long Island City a run for its money in terms of development and desirability in Queens. Residential and retail complex Sky View Parc has nearly sold out. Phase 1 of the large-scale Flushing Commons is nearly complete. Most recently, the foundation of a mixed-use building at 131-11 Fowler Avenue is nearly complete. When construction is completed (estimated at 2019), the building will feature 80 apartments on top of 18,000 square feet of retail space divided into four separate storefronts. A recent rendering shows that all apartments will have large windows and select units will have private balconies. Both developer W&L Group Construction and designers MY Architect PC are known for their body of work throughout Queens.
Conveniently enough for new homeowners, 131-11 Fowler Avenue is about a block away from a Home Depot. It is also a short walk from the historic Flushing Meadows and its myriad recreational offerings. The building will have 42 parking places, and there’s a bus stop on the corner.
