With the apartment showings on pause, New York developers and sales teams are getting creative marketing their properties. Even once the city opens, the increase in virtual tours will allow overseas and out-of-state buyers who may not be satisfied with photos or a simple apartment video. Today's premier tours offer full unit walk-throughs, the ability to measure the rooms, and further insights on their prospective building just a click away.

In a prime example of how virtual tours have evolved, see The Towers of the Waldorf Astoria. Whether on their computers or using a virtual reality platform, visitors have a choice of pressing play and going on a preset tour, or “walking” through the sales gallery and model residence. The tour is interspersed with extra details on the design of the building, apartment features, and behind-the-scenes videos about the illustrious history of the building.

Indeed, the residential sales gallery is a veritable font of the hotel's celebrated history, with portraits of its developers, staff and most famous residents. Cole Porter’s Steinway, and the “Spirit of Achievement” statue by Nina Saemundsson, which has stood at the hotel’s entrance since 1931, are also on display. A walk upstairs to the building model and model residence shows original architectural drawings.

The reimagination of the structure will maintain 350 hotel rooms on the lower floors and 375 condo units will be on floors 12 through 43. The pinnacling floors 40, 41, and 42 will only have two units each. The project's offering plan indicates an average unit size of a spacious 1,747 square feet, with apartments ranging from modest studios or guest suites, to a 6,647-square-foot four-bedroom condo that comes with a library, a 32-foot-wide living/dining room, and a 3,589-square foot terrace.

Three more sprawling units — each more than 6,100 square feet, plus terraces — will comprise the penthouses. One of these will have a 46-foot-wide living room, a 16-foot-wide library, a 21-foot-wide entertainment room, and a 29-foot-long kitchen.

And of course, an alluring array of residential amenities will be provided. They include a 25-meter pool, men's and women's wellness lounges, fitness center, Grand Salon, and Starlight Lounge and Terrace. In addition to the state-of-the-art appliances and fine fixtures that have become the norm in New York's luxury apartments, the residences feature "Concierge Closets" integrated into the entryway, which allows a dedicated staff to deliver packages, dry cleaning, and grocery delivery directly to residents.
