Yesterday, the city's Department for Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) filed an application to build a 44-unit apartment building at 302 East 2nd Street in the East Village. The 14-floor tower will have no more than four apartments per floor and cover a total zoning floor area of 37,853 square feet.
AD100 member Leroy Street Studio is listed as the project architects. Images posted on their website show a masonry building with picture windows and a setback at the eleventh floor. It appears the firm will also handle the design of another residential building planned for a city-owned lot nearby at 276 East 3rd Street. Amenities will include a community/senior center on the ground floor, outdoor recreation space, a community room, laundry room, an exercise room, and an 11th-floor outdoor terrace.
