Slate Property Group, in partnership with Mishkenot Urbanica, is redeveloping Williamsburg’s Quaker Sugar factory site into a 130-unit rental building. Scheduled to open in fall 2018, the building will rise to 7-stories, from a large parcel at the corner of Hope and Rodney. Per The Real Deal, Slate closed on the property in late 2015, filing construction permits and then acquiring it for $31.5 million in the early 2015. Since we first covered the development last September the design has been revised but the multi-family housing designers of Aufgang Architects continue to be in charge.
According to renderings published by developer Mishkenot Urbanica, 123 Hope Street (432 Rodney) will boast a pared-down factory aesthetic with a limestone-colored first floor and red brick above. Windows will be framed by green-colored mullions and the corners of the top floor will be cut away to provide outdoor space.
The building is rising in the heart of Williamsburg and is a short walk from the Lorimer Street/Metropolitan Avenue subway, serving the L and G lines. Shared amenities will include a fitness center, a lounge, a common roof deck, a bike storage, and parking for 90 vehicles. Danya Cebus is the project builder and will complete the project in October 2018.
