SoHo's 52 Wooster Finally Sheds Netting & Shows its Split-Personality Facade

More than ten years in the making, Soho’s 52 Wooster Street is nearly finished and the construction crew has begun removing the opaque shroud hiding its façade. The 6-story building is designed by Arpad Baksa Architect and sits squarely in the Soho-Cast Iron Historic District. After some tinkering with the design, the Landmarks Preservation Commission approved a two-textured treatment to gel with its opposing neighbors. The Wooster Street elevation is clad in red brick to match its Romanesque-styled neighbor while the Broome Street elevation is a modern and metal riff of cast-iron architecture.

The five full-floor homes average more than 2,000 square feet each. All have oversized corner windows, 11-foot-high ceilings, white oak floors, stainless steel appliances and fireplaces. Tucked within the lot, is an interior courtyard that will be overlooked by private terraces.
