The lot at 500 Kingston Avenue currently stands vacant on the corner of East New York Avenue, but a new rental building is set to make a dramatic statement. Developer David Halevy, doing business as 510 Kingston Avenue LLC, bought the site for $1.7 million in fall 2020 (per city records), and renderings from IN-OA Architecture depict a seven-story building with eye-catching cantilevers and setbacks, floor-to-ceiling windows, and glass terraces.
According to permits filed in December 2020, the seven-story building will feature two fellowship halls on the first floor, community facility space on the second, and 31 apartments starting on the third floor. In addition to the private terraces in several units, amenities are to include a roof terrace, bike room, and 18-car parking garage. Further details on indoor amenities are not yet available, but it is well situated near grocery stores, schools, Wingate Park, Kings County Hospital Center, and public transportation.

This new design is the latest aesthetically appealing offering from IN-OA Architecture. Founder and Principal Murad Mutlu’s resume includes Zaha Hadid Architects and Skidmore Owings & Merrill, and his background comes through in his firm’s avant-garde designs. Renderings of the expanded Chabad Lubavitch community center in Kensington depict an adventurous facade, and the firm’s residential buildings have quickly sold out. As we wait for the new building to take shape at 500 Kensington Avenue, see a selection of IN-OA Architecture's designs throughout Brooklyn.
