Perhaps unsurprisingly, a Billionaires' Row condo took Manhattan's top sale as July 2023 drew to a close. However, for the first time since May 2022, an apartment at the Rafael Viñoly-designed 432 Park Avenue had the city's top sale with Residence #50B, which sold for $9,300,000. The seller was identified only through an LLC, as was the buyer, but public records indicate that they took a loss on it, having bought it for $9,646,333 in spring 2016. One of only three units on its high floor, the oversized windows look out on panoramic views of the East River and the Manhattan skyline. Interiors feature a gracious foyer, an eat-in kitchen, and an ultra-private primary suite.
The top co-op contract and third-highest overall took place ten blocks north at the J.E.R. Carpenter-designed 655 Park Avenue, where Residence #7E sold for $6,850,000. Public records list the seller of the massive four-bedroom home as Arthur Peponis, head of private equity at investment firm Angelo Gordon, and his wife, lawyer Margaret Peponis. The buyers conducted the transaction through a trust.
