Earlier this spring, the Federal Reserve approved the first interest rate increase since December 2018 in a move that they hope will curb inflation without affecting economic growth. It remains to be seen how this will impact New York's record-breaking real estate market, though. Last week, the purchaser of a record-breaking Harlem townhouse closed the sale on the last possible day before having to renegotiate a new, likely higher mortgage rate. At the same time, appraiser Jonathan Miller points out that New York's market share of all-cash buyers in the first quarter of 2022 was 47.4 percent, indicating that it might have less of an impact here than in other parts of the country.

In this environment, a total of 262 sales listings throughout New York City experienced price reductions over the past seven days. A full, sortable chart may be found below, along with a selection of notable listings.
