However, a recent report by Miller Samuel found that new lease signings dipped month over month in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Appraiser Jonathan Miller attributes some of this to renters in (somewhat) approachable apartments choosing to renew their leases rather than incur the expense of moving, not to mention higher rents: Median rents in those three boroughs hit new records for the fourth time in five months.
