Construction progresses at Hudson Yards, with cranes and new buildings continuing to sprout throughout the massive development site on Manhattan's far west side. Soon to rise is 515 West 36th Street, where foundation work is now in full swing. The mixed-use building, situated between 10th Avenue and the future Hudson Boulevard, will become a a 38-story tower with 250 residences.
Work has now begun at the site's foundation.

Permits for the 38-story tower were first filed in 2013 after Lalezarian Properties purchased the four-lot site for $46.9 million. The building will soar to 418 feet, and will include 198,000 square feet of residential space, 13,500 square feet of retail space, and 36,000 square feet of community space.

The tower's 251 apartments will begin on the eighth floor, and residents will have access to terraces on both the 9th and 36th floors. Permits show there will also be a bike room and a rooftop terrace. Twenty percent (50 units) have been designated as affordable housing and will be set aside for a future lottery for qualified applicants. The building is expected to be open in 2018.
Ismael Leyva Architects designed the tower, which will feature a simple glass curtain wall atop a short white base; an exterior that will well reflect the surrounding office towers. Situated in the Hudson Yards mega-development, the tower will become part of the new community built atop an active railyard which continues to reach milestones, which includes opening of the new Hudson Yards subway station last fall.
