HFZ Capital Group has officially announced the hotel tenant of its twisty-turny high-rise complex, “The Eleventh” at 76 Eleventh Avenue in West Chelsea. The Bangkok-based Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, a global luxury hospitality company renowned for its remote locations and commitment to community, sustainability, wellness, and design, is now set to open its flagship North American urban hotel inside the development.
Six Senses’ portfolio currently includes 10 resorts and 28 spas, all with unparalleled high-end facilities and services. The company's many eco-conscious resort properties stand at gorgeous locations including Thailand, Maldives, Oman, and Portugal, and the pioneer company plans to triple its portfolio within the next five years and expand into 17 different countries. Six Senses anticipates success with its first urban development inside The Eleventh, mainly due to the nearby scenic and natural benefits: the full-block development stands alongside the green High Line and the serene Hudson River.
Designed by Bjarke Ingels, the development will host two torquing towers featuring slanted and stepped facades made of steel and metal. The buildings’ rotational forms definitely air on the side of innovative, while the punched window openings will reference the area’s historic industrial buildings. At heights of 300 and 400 feet, or 28 and 26 stories respectively, the towers will stand among Chelsea’s tallest, offering residents 360-degree views of the High Line, Hudson River, and Downtown and Midtown skylines.
The shorter East tower will host the Six Senses hotel, with 137 rooms and a large spa, and condos above. The West and taller tower will exclusively host condos. In total, the buildings will comprise 240 luxury residences, along with the hotel, retail space, and a new public park space. HFZ has partnered with Friends of the High Line to collaborate on the open-air pedestrian promenade that will sit adjacent to the High Line. As we previously reported, groundwork at the site began in August, and excavation and foundation work is expected to take up to a year to complete. The entire development is slated for completion in 2019.
