Vanbarton Group lands financing for office-to-residential conversion
Jul 14, 2025In July 2025, developer Vanbarton Group secured a $250 million loan for its office-to-residential conversion of 1011 First Avenue, the former headquarters of the Archdiocese of New York. The developer plans to convert the office under the 485x tax incentive program, and at least 25 percent of the planned 420 units will be designated as affordable housing.

May 12, 2025In early May 2025, developer Vanbarton Group filed permits to expand and convert 1011 First Avenue, the former headquarters of the Archdiocese of New York, to 420 housing units. The developer also plans to expand the 20-story office building by six stories and renumber the site as 1005 First Avenue.
