Overview of 650 First Avenue

650 First Avenue was originally constructed in 1904 as the headquarters of the Kips Bay Brewing Company. The company survived Prohibition and remained in business until 1947, and the building was later repurposed as offices.

In the early 2000s, it served as the home of NYU Langone Health's internal medicine offices. Most recently, developer Lalezarian Properties bought the building for $33.5 million in April 2023 with plans to turn it into a mixed-use building with a residential component. Four floors were added, and the residential conversion only applies to the southern wing of the builidng.

All 111 studio to three-bedroom units are reached via keyless entry and feature high ceilings, stone and wood flooring, kitchens with LED countertop lighting and stainless steel appliances, baths with Kohler fixtures, central heating and air conditioning, and in-unit laundry. 650 First Avenue is located in close proximity to NYU Langone Medical Center, United Nations Headquarters, Murray Hill dining, and the Kips Bay Fairway and AMC movie theater. Grand Central Terminal is a few blocks northwest.
