London Terrace Towers, completed in 1930-1931, is an iconic pre-war residential complex occupying a full city block in Chelsea between West 23rd and 24th Streets and Ninth and Tenth Avenues. The massive development, designed by architects Victor Farrar and Richard Warmough for developer Henry Mandel, consists of four corner co-op buildings (London Terrace Towers) and ten middle rental buildings (London Terrace Gardens), originally containing 1,670 units.
The complex was built on the former site of historic London Terrace townhouses and the property of Clement Clarke Moore, author of "'Twas the Night Before Christmas." The buildings feature distinctive Romanesque architectural details and were among the last courtyard apartments built before new housing codes. Today, the full-service complex offers extensive amenities including a half Olympic-sized indoor heated pool, health club, roof deck with city views, 24-hour doorman service, and steam rooms and saunas. Its prime Chelsea location provides easy access to the High Line, Hudson River Park, Chelsea Piers, and the neighborhood's renowned art gallery district.

For some co-ops, instead of price per square foot, we use an estimate of the number of rooms for each sold apartment to chart price changes over time. This is because many co-op listings do not include square footage information, and this makes it challenging to calculate accurate square-foot averages.
By displaying the price per estimated room count, we are able to provide a more reliable and consistent metric for comparing sales in the building. While we hope that this gives you a clearer sense of price trends in the building, all data should be independently verified. All data provided are only estimates and should not be used to make any purchase or sale decision.
