Construction has started at Modern 23, a new, 8-story residential condominium building at 350 West 23rd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues in Chelsea.

The building, which will have an asymmetrical facade of clear and colored glass, black brick and metalwork, will have 15 apartments ranging in size from 1,661 to 2,581 square feet.

A one-bedroom unit with one-and-a-half baths and 1,803 square feet is priced at about $1,950,000 and a three-bedroom unit with two-and-a-half baths and 1,912 square feet is priced at about $2,440,000.

Daniel L. Goldner is the architect.

The developer is 350-52 West 23rd LLC, of which Martin Hollander is the owner.

The building will have an attended lobby with package room and cyber-doorman, roof deck, key-lock elevator entry, gas-burning fireplaces, individual storage units, bicycle storage and, on the rear facade, balconies and terraces.

Apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows with sliding doors to Juliet balconies and individual heating and air-conditioning controls.

Kitchens will have Grey Oak cabinetry with Ice Stone counters and Glacier Glass tile backsplashes, Wolf cook-tops and ovens, Asko dishwashers, wine coolers, and Sub-Zero refrigerators.

Master baths will have Calacatta gold marble flooring, Zuma tubs surrounded by Calacatta marble and TOTO water closets.
