A mixed-use development under construction alongside McCarren Park at 848 Lorimer Street in Greenpoint is expected to debut in early 2019.

The developer is Meshberg Group, the firm behind newly constructed Williamsburg condominiums at 476 Union Avenue and 212 North Ninth Street, and rental buildings at 223 North 8th Street and 774 Grand Street. The new building is on Lorimer Street between Nassau and Driggs Avenue, rising to six floors with 52 residential units, according to permits. Issac and Stern Architects designed the building which also includes a street-level parking garage.

The design includes a four-story brick exterior followed by two stories wrapped in glass; there are between nine and 13 units on the second through fifth floors, and just four units on the sixth floor. Residential amenities include a gym on the cellar level, bike storage, lobby with package room, exterior recreation area on the first floor and second floor roof terrace. Interior renderings show contemporary residences with stylish details and amenity areas with industrial-inspired touches. The new building is directly next to the 7-story, 14-unit condominium 868 Lorimer on the Park, and on the same block is a new rental building now leasing at 906 Lorimer Street. The location is one block to the G train at Nassau Street and is walking distance to the L train; ferry service is available in Greenpoint at India Street and in Williamsburg at North 5th Street.
