Construction has topped out on 138-142 Bowery, the new eight-story apartment and hotel building coming later this year to Little Italy. According to the latest permits, the building's 30,825 square feet of commercial space will include 46 hotel rooms and it's 13,830 square feet of residential space will include 27 apartments -
averaging 512 square feet apiece. And while plans for building size have not changed, the original permits called for 64 hotel rooms and 21 apartments, meaning the small apartments got that much smaller.
The new mixed-use building will host 10 hotel rooms on the second floor and 12 hotel rooms each on floors 3 through 5. Floors 6 through 8 will hold nine apartments each. Amenities include a laundry room, bike parking, and a roof deck. The retail space will share the ground-floor with the hotel and residential lobby. Developer Emmut Properties picked up the five-building assemblage (134-142 Bowery) for $47 million back in 2015 but for now, the first two historic buildings are still standing.
