Coming off the success of their new rental building, Brooklyn Grand, Dean Marchi’s Grand Street Development is bringing their next venture to the banks of McCarren Park. The site at 848 Lorimer Street is situated between Nassau and Driggs avenues at the meeting of Williamsburg and Greenpoint. The 15,000-square-foot lot has 150 feet of frontage overlooking the park and was previously occupied by a nondescript, one-story warehouse.

Approved permits filed earlier this year show that the busy office of Issac & Stern Architects are the executive architects and that the building will rise 5 floors and hold 45 apartments. Meshberg Group is the design architect and the construction manager is Piazza Development. A rendering recently shared on the developer’s Instagram shows the building will rise 6 stories (rather than 5) and sport the popular neo-factory aesthetic of simple red-brick paired with large casement windows. Simulating a rooftop addition, the top two levels of the building will setback from the streetwall and be enveloped in glass.
An impressive roster of amenities is envisioned inside. They include on-site parking, fitness center, resident lounge, business center, rooftop terrace, private garden, children’s playroom and private storage. It is not known whether the apartments will be rentals or for-sale units, but the stellar location and the large size of its units suggest condos. Next door at 868 Lorimer/ 585 Manhattan Avenue, Chatham Development Company is building a two-wing condominium development of 14 units designed by the Stephen B. Jacobs Group.
