Seven and a half years after launching its city hotel concept west of Times Square, Yotel announced a second New York outpost at 38-75 11th Street in Long Island City. The new 11-story hotel is being developed in partnership with Eastone Equities, and Design 101 is mentioned as the architect. Renderings show a sleek stone building with large windows. LIC Post reported that construction began in April, and the opening date is estimated for late 2020.
All 178 rooms will have Yotel’s signature first class-inspired décor, adjustable SmartBed, Urban Skincare toiletries, multiple power and USB ports, smart TVs, and free, super-fast WiFi. The location will allow for beautiful views of the Queensboro Bridge. Hotel amenities will include over 20 enclosed parking spaces, several co-working and meeting spaces, a gym, and an indoor and outdoor roof terrace and bar with stunning Manhattan skyline and East River views.

“Long Island City is a flourishing, innovative part of the city and plays an inspiring role in many industries” – Hubert Viriot, CEO, Yotel

While Amazon’s new headquarters was a key factor in Yotel’s decision, it wasn’t the sole one. The neighborhood has become very popular with young professionals, and it is already home to Silvercup Studios and headquarters for Citibank, Uber, Met Life, and JetBlue. Moreover, its convenient location allows for easy access from La Guardia and JFK and a 20-minute trip to Manhattan via public transportation.
