Less than one month after a quadruplex penthouse at The Bellemont set a new price record for the Upper East Side, the Madison Avenue boutique condominium is back on top with a duplex unit that closed for $16,485,113, or slightly above the price of $16,150,000 listed in the offering plan, in what appears to be in an off-market sale. It has five bedrooms, five and a half baths, and 5,053 interior square feet. Public records list the buyer as Kirkland & Ellis executive Erica Berthou and husband Nazmi Oztanir.
Also on the Upper East Side, Ballature Beauty co-founder Sam Ghusson and his wife, Suzanne Ghusson, sold their five-bedroom apartment at The Parkville, a prestigious Park Avenue condominium, for $13,500,000 in the fourth-highest sale of the past week. When the apartment returned to the market in fall 2022, the New York Post noted that they listed it for $14.5 million, down from the $15 million when they first listed it in 2021. Nevertheless, the couple makes a small profit, having purchased it for $13 million in 2012.

Meanwhile, Billionaires' Row and the surrounding area are still going strong. An off-market sale at Central Park Tower nipped at The Bellemont duplex's heels with a price of $16,425,566. Around the block, a 64th-story home at The Park Imperial, where residents enjoyed unobstructed Central Park views until the supertalls in the next block rose, had the third-highest sale at $14,500,000. This buyer was identified only through an LLC; but when it entered contract earlier this spring, Crain's New York Business revealed that it had once been owned by Comverse CEO Jacob Alexander.

Rounding out the top five was a penthouse at The Westly, an amenity-rich new Upper West Side condominium, that closed for $13,500,000, or $3,831 / square foot, the highest per square foot ever achieved by a condo above 86th Street on Manhattan's West or East Sides. The New York-based buyer was identified only as someone seeking "a home with outdoor space, panoramic views, and expansive interior proportions," as listing broker Shlomi Reuveni put it, and they have certainly achieved that with this penthouse - it measures 3,524 interior square feet and includes over 1,000 square feet of private outdoor space.
