New York’s new class of supertalls looks highly impressive from the outside, and the apartments inside offer spectacular views of the park, river, and skyline. Interiors are often kept minimalist so as to not to detract from the views, but this can lead to boring white boxes with no character. 111 West 57th Street solves this problem by enlisting AD100 designer Rafael de Cárdenas to design a model unit with bespoke furnishings, lustrous fabrics and finishes, and eye-catching art.

Mr. de Cárdenas is a native New Yorker who grew up in Midtown West, a short distance from where 111 West 57th Street would eventually rise. His extensive portfolio includes the Cartier flagship store in London, the Kenzo flagship store in Seoul, Vogue Italia offices, Ulla Johnson’s New York showroom, and the Broadway Bar at the Nordstrom flagship up the street from 111 West 57th Street. Earlier this year, he launched a collaboration with Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams.

“We liked the idea of leaning into this idea of adding an almost acid color palette, with some of the greens extending the park's form and presence into the home itself, whilst still speaking to the project's sophistication” – Rafael de Cárdenas

The de Cárdenas model unit is located in the newly constructed tower at 111 West 57th Street, which is the second-tallest residential building in the city and houses 46 full-floor and duplex units. It rises above the beautifully restored and landmarked Steinway Hall, which was converted to 14 loft residences as part of the project.

Residents of all units enjoy such amenities as a porte-cochere, attended lobby, double-height fitness center with mezzanine terrace, 82-foot swimming pool with private cabanas, residents’ lounge with terrace, private dining room and chef’s kitchen, children’s playroom, and golf simulator. It is well situated near Central Park, Carnegie Hall, the Theater District, several department store flagships, acclaimed restaurants, and numerous transportation options. Remaining availabilities in the building start at $9,250,000.
