As of this writing, "awards season" is in full swing: The Oscars are upon us this Sunday, and architecture enthusiasts eagerly await the announcement of the Pritzker Prize laureate, which typically comes in early March. "The Nobel Prize of architecture" has been awarded since 1979, when Philip Johnson was announced as the first winner.
Mr. Johnson began his career as a critic and museum director. After pivoting to architecture, he developed an extensive portfolio -- his tri-state projects alone include the Seagram Building and 550 Madison Avenue in Midtown East, the Paley Center for Media in Midtown West, and the David H. Koch Theater in Lincoln Center, and multiple single-family houses in upstate New York and Connecticut. His most famous work is perhaps The Glass House in New Canaan, Connecticut.

The Wolfhouse, a mid-century modern Johnson design now on the market in Newburgh, New York, has been compared to The Glass House for its open floor plan and floor-to-ceiling windows. And in a statement about Urban Glass House, Mr. Johnson's final project, his collaborator Allan Ritchie said of the design, "The discipline and modernist principles of the New Canaan house ultimately ruled the day."
330 Spring Street penthouse Urban Glass House, #PH (The Modlin Group)
Urban Glass House was an early entrant in a stretch of western Soho that has grown in popularity since its construction and is now considered Hudson Square. Availabilities in the building are few and far between, but a full-floor penthouse with two private terraces has been on and off the market at gradually lower prices since July 2023, when it was initially listed for $23.5 million. Its most recent price reduction brings it down to $16,000,000.
The penthouse is among approximately 200 condos, co-ops, condops, and townhouses throughout New York that experienced price reductions from February 18-24, 2025. A selection of notable listings may be seen below. Please be advised that all figures reflect cumulative price cuts as opposed to the most recent reductions.
