Construction scaffolding has just come off of the boutique condominium at 101 West 78th Street - just in time to greet its first occupants. Sales launched back in February for the rental-to-condominium conversion, which lies directly across the street from the Museum of Natural History in the Upper West Side. This historic building has been thoughtfully transformed by HTO Architect with select residences designed by Stephen Sills, an expert known for combining classical and modern elements. GTIS Partners are the developers.

101 West 78th Street is a collection of 23 grand residences, spread throughout 8 stories and ranging from two-to-five bedroom homes, and a single full-floor penthouse. Brown Harris Stevens Development Marketing is exclusively handling the sales and there are currently four listings on the market.

101 West 78th Street was designed by Belgian-born Emile Gruwe and completed in 1886. The landmark conversion began in 2015 and encompasses 69,000 square feet. It features a timeless look with patterns of red brick and terracotta sculptures and inside, you'll find completely redone layouts that have conceived large and luxurious residences.

Stephen Sills, a notable Architectural Digest “AD 100” designer reconfigured the building's lobby, amenity spaces, and homes with great attention to detail. He also collaborated with Smallbone of Devizes to create high-quality custom kitchens while architect H. Thomas O'Hara Jr. of HTO Architect designed the residential floor plans to be functional for modern-day living.
