The Hampshire House, #29WEST (Douglas Elliman) The Hampshire House, #29WEST (Douglas Elliman)
At the beginning of the week, The Wall Street Journal announced that the Pinnacle Penthouse occupying the top floors of The Woolworth Tower Residences had sold to Masterworks executive and art collector Scott Lynn for $30,000,000. While the transaction will likely rank among the top sales to take place this week, it nevertheless represents an $80 million reduction, or 72.7% off the original asking price of $110 million when it hit the market in fall 2017.

Developer Alchemy Properties noted that the penthouse was being sold as white box space, no two buyers appeared to have the same vision for it, and millions of dollars in customizations will go into renovating the penthouse. It does not help that sales of condos at The Woolworth Tower Residences took place amidst a wildly fluctuating real estate market, including but not limited to the introduction of New York's mansion tax and a global pandemic that temporarily deterred local and international buyers alike.

From August 2-8, 2023, a total of 192 sales listings throughout New York City experienced price reductions. A selection of notable discounts, though none quite so deep as the Pinnacle Penthouse, may be seen below. Please be advised that all figures reflect cumulative price ducts as opposed to the most recent reductions.
