As work wraps-up on Hudson Yards' first office tower (anchored by Coach), across 30th Street a 33-story rental tower is beginning to soar. 530 West 30th will have 179 rentals and will ascend to 367 feet; a modest height for the massive urban development project from
Related Companies and Oxford Properties.
Unlike many of its forthcoming Hudson Yards peers, its claim-to-fame is not in its size; it is the only building with two sides fronting The High Line. The architect of record is Ismael Leyva Architects, which Related has favored as an executive architect for many of their residential projects in New York. The building is nestled between similarly scaled rental towers, Ohm developed by Douglaston Development, and Abington House developed by Related in 2014.
The project shares its through-block lot with 509 West 29th Street, a recently completed, 100% affordable building. The superstructure stands at roughly 25 floors and is in three tiers, which scale downward as it approaches The High Line's eastern elevation. Like Abington House, its exterior is inspired by former warehouse and manufacturing buildings in the district, which remain sprinkled throughout West Chelsea. The facade is pinstriped with columns of marble-like paneling, with operable, green-hued windows laying nearly flush in between.
The complete list of amenities has not been announced, but filings with the Department of Buildings indicate a basketball court, lounge, swimming pool, locker rooms, children’s playroom, bicycle parking, private storage, bowling alley, and a rooftop terrace. Completion of the building is slated for 2017.
