As Long Island City popped on many renters' radars, much of its housing stock included high-rises with endless amenities and spectacular views to lure people out of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The newest development is being built on more of a boutique scale, but not at the expense of well-thought interiors and amenities. The latest entrant is TRIO, a 10-story, 30-unit rental at 27-19 Thomson Avenue.
A lottery for 11 rent-stabilized units took place over the summer, and market-rate is underway with availabilities starting at $3,945/month for one-bedrooms and $5,700/month for two-bedrooms. This is roughly in line with Long Island City median prices of $3,870/month for one-bedrooms and $5,950/month for two-bedrooms (all figures per CityRealty listings).

TRIO is located in the Court Square section of Long Island City that took advantage of close proximity to the E/G/M/7 trains at Court Square and the R/W at Queensboro Plaza. However, there is much to recommend closer to home. It is close to Court Square Park, MoMA PS1, and the eclectic dining options of Vernon Boulevard and Jackson Avenue. Those who'd rather eat at home are down the street from Long Island City's first Trader Joe's, which is located in the base of luxury condominium The Prime LIC.
