The skyscraper rising at 242 West 53rd Street has made impressive progress since last year when it began to make its 62-story ascent into the Midtown West skyline. Designed by CetraRuddy, the rental tower has a notable cutting-edge facade with curving glass corners and a white geometric grid of aluminum panels.

Over the summer, it topped out at more than 700 feet tall and was also given a name - ARO. The official website announces a 2018 residential launch for its 426 apartments, whose occupants will have access to "40,0000 SF of world-class amenities."

While the team's efforts and the building's design have given new life to the site, it is still widely know as the former locale of the Roseland Ballroom, which was demolished for this project.

Prospective renters can register on the website, but information about pricing is noticeably absent and likely won't be released until closer to the official launch. Follow CityRealty's ARO profile as we continue to track the eye-catching development.
