In any time, the prewar building at 237 Madison Avenue would appear designed to be in tune with, if not ahead of, the trends of its day. When it opened in 1927, it was as the Hotel Duane and targeted long-term residents. Decades later, Ian Schrager and former business partner Steve Rubell converted it into Morgans Hotel, which travel experts consider to be the first boutique hotel. Most recently, it has been transformed into a micro-unit rental named No. 237 Madison, and leasing has just launched.
Current availabilities start at $2,580/month for studios, $3,675/month for one-beds, and $4,500/month for two-beds. According to CityRealty listings, this puts them roughly in line with the Murray Hill median price of $2,650/month for studios, $3,431/month for one-beds, and $5,197/month for two-beds. It is currently offering one month free rent and free TV for immediate move-ins. Virtual tours are available for the apartments and amenities.

All studio apartments have been masterfully designed to make the most of the small square footage. They come fully furnished with a custom sofa, a small dining table, adjustable swing-arm lamps and tables, and a Murphy bed that can be neatly stored behind a metal door, or underneath the living space in the case of Platform studios.

The kitchens come with pull-out countertops and high-end appliances that pull out as “drawers,” including the refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher. Overhead cabinetry and perforated doors create extra storage space, and Elfa closet systems allow for easy organization. A number of unfurnished one- and two-bedroom lofts, some with private balconies, is also available.
All apartments in this doorman building are set up for smart TV integration, and there is high-speed internet and WiFi throughout. A fifth-floor conference room has a long communal terrazzo work table, a coffee bar and mini kitchen, and access to a terrace courtyard. Upstairs, the Cathedral Lounge (named for its distinctive ceilings) has its own full kitchen, various seating options, and access to two private roof gardens overlooking extensive Manhattan views. Additional amenities include a central laundry room and a fitness center with yoga studio.
