As New York City enters Phase 2 of a four-part reopening, traditional real estate showings will be permitted to resume, albeit with new safety and health protocols in place. However, the past few months saw virtual tours of all forms replace face-to-face showings for apartment hunters in the city as well as all over the world, and some brokers expect these to be a permanent part of their repertoire.

A case in point can be found at 222 Johnson Avenue, a new seven-story rental in Williamsburg that has just started leasing. The development is being marketed by Bold New York, whose CEO has declared that his firm will no longer list properties without virtual tours. 222 Johnson Avenue offers virtual tours, but the fact that these apartments have never been lived in will allow in-person showings to take place more easily.
