Brooklyn Pizza Tour: Come for the History, Stay for the Cheese

NOVEMBER 20, 2009

Get pie-eyed in Brooklyn.

A Slice of Brooklyn Pizza Tour
This neighborhood-centric tour—featured on NBC's Today Show and the Food Network—led by proud Brooklyn native Tony Muia, will introduce you to the borough's classic Italian and Jewish neighborhoods, landmarks and spots you'll recognize from your favorite movies (Coney Island, Brooklyn Bridge Park) as well as neighborhood highlights and city lore you never knew (homes along scenic Shore Road in Bay Ridge, including the famous “Gingerbread House” and the Brooklyn Army Terminal where Elvis shipped off to Germany in 1958). And, of course, there's the pizza. Pie pit-stops include Grimaldi's under the Brooklyn Bridge and Spumoni Gardens in Bensonhurst just to name a few. A Slice of Brooklyn Bring your appetite, and by the time the tour ends, you may be repeating Muia's motto: Manhattan? Fuhgeddaboudit.

Tours meet every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Union Square (yes, that's in Manhattan.)
East side of 4th Avenue between 13th and 14th streets
10:45 a.m. (buses leave promptly at 11).
Tickets are $75 ($65 for kids under 12).
Transportation and food (that'd be the pizza) are included.
