Design Aerobics: A Workout for Your Creative Side

APRIL 10, 2009

Online lessons bring new ideas and real-world experience to a global classroom of design enthusiasts.

Designboom–a site devoted to the best news, events, interviews, shopping and other dispatches from the forefront of international design, architecture and art–offers a unique workout for your creative design mind. The Design Aerobics program of online industrial design courses was developed by the site's editor-in-chief as a way to share her 20 years of industry experience as a designer, curator and consultant. The focus: A combination of professional skills and personal development. The goal: Providing you with an opportunity to discuss design with experts and other creative folks while you benefit from "real world design experience.

Courses reflect the wide horizons of the design field, but they're all "relevant to the intellectual, cultural, artistic, and professional needs and interests of adult design-enthusiasts." A course in ceramics, for example, explores the art of contemporary ceramic design, while another called "food" will give you a "good taste of design in the food sector," from packaging to the surroundings in which food is consumed.

Design Aerobics courses cost $69 each, and they're available on a rolling basis, with the next batch open from May 18 to July 20. Just choose your course, pay, log in and begin.
