Missoni for Target: Bryant Park Pop-Up

SEPTEMBER 2, 2011

New Yorkers can zig on fall’s most anticipated designer-discount duet before Target shoppers zag.

By now you’d have to be living under a rock with no internet to be unaware of the impending Missoni for Target mini-collection. The classic Italian couture label has joined forces with Tar-jay to give the psychedelic, space-dyed stripey treatment to pieces you can actually buy and also pay your bills—nothing’s more than $599. No matter how overexposed the familiar zigzag print may seem, chances are you’ll find something among the jackets, jumpers, skirts, shoes, socks, scarves, ties, accessories and housewares (barrettes! a bike! patio furniture.) that will seduce you with its perfectly artsy palette. Scroll through the whole lookbook here (via Racked).

Some good news: New Yorkers can get a jump on the Missoni merch before it hits Target stores across the country on September 13. In conjunction with Fashion Week kickoff shop-a-thon Fashion’s Night Out on September 8, a pop-up bazaar carrying Missoni for Target will be setting up shop at 1095 Sixth Avenue at 42nd Street, the same Bryant Park space that witnessed the Liberty for Target whirlwind (items flew from shelves faster than pre-Irene flashlights). Doors will open promptly at 6 p.m.. The first 20 shoppers who drop a C note will get party-snapped for Facebook with Missoni family members and other fashion celebs. Arrive early, but do not imagine you’ll be the only one with that idea. The store will be up will for three days (September 8, 6-11 p.m.; September 9 & 10, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.), while supplies last. Good luck nabbing one of those umbrellas.
