Hudson 192 near Fort Tryon Park seeking renters; cost of Ground Zero transport hub soars

Hudson 192, a new eight-story condo near Fort Tryon Park, has changed over to a luxury rental residence in hopes that renters will be an easier find in tough economic times. The building, located at 700 West 192nd Street at Broadway, a block from the park, hopes to attract residents with its ability to “bring downtown quality uptown.” Rents range from $1,395 to $2,600 for studios, one, and two bedrooms.

The cost of the World Trade Center transportation hub, whose design resembles a bird in flight, appears to be soaring again with its final price now expected to climb to $3.8 billion, $400 million over its current budget and 70 percent more than initial estimates. Plans for the dramatically-designed oval-shaped entrance—called the oculus—have been altered to cut costs, but the changes haven’t kept the commuter hub within spending estimates.
