Marketing begins at 41 Bond in Noho’s chic condo corridor; Rezoning might revitalize former Fur District near FIT

Midtown’s Community Board 5 has unanimously endorsed a Department of City Planning re-zoning plan for the blocks surrounding the Fashion Institute of Technology in Chelsea with the intention of boosting development in the former “Fur District” and establishing a more mixed-use atmosphere. Board members as well as city planners would like to see the area—currently comprised mostly of a few remaining fur wholesalers, small warehouses, and parking lots—become more welcoming for restaurants, shops and services rather than becoming desolate at night.

Marketing has started at the bluestone-faced building at 41 Bond Street in Noho’s priciest condo corridor. The newly-minted residence joins neighbors 25, 40 and 48 Bond, addresses known for attracting celebrities and other high-profile city dwellers. The seven apartments—plus a duplex penthouse—in the 9-story condominium residence range in price from $5 million to over $8 million.
