A new green home in the East Village; Plans for a glass-fronted rental in TriBeCa

Marketing has begun for the The Village Green in the East Village. The building at 311 East 11th Street has been in the news for its LEED Gold certification—its unique features include a Daikin central heating and air-conditioning system powered by electricity with variable speed motors, geothermal heating and cooling in common areas, rainwater collection for garden irrigation systems, and a planted green roof. The motto at the new residence is "Live better in every sense," and other amenities include a wellness center and backyards in several units.

The Landmarks Commission has approved a new project at 401 Greenwich street in TriBeCa. The planned "Glass Atelier" is to be an all-glass-fronted six-story residential (rental) loft modeled to resemble a 19th Century Romanesque Revival commercial building. The building's facade would be made with clear glass bricks with a steel frame covered in white concrete. Two retail stores will anchor the building on the ground floor.
