Notable Neighbors with Usher

DECEMBER 23, 2010

New Yorkers are totally not celebrity-obsessed. Yet our famous neighbors validate our choice to live in this crazy town: People who could live anywhere they wanted choose to live here, too.

R & B singer Usher recently checked out two FiDi condos at 20 Pine Street—not yet officially on the market–going for $3.1 million. Amenities at the Armani/Casa-designed luxury residence include four lounges, a Turkish spa, a 60-foot-long pool, two reflecting pools and a golf-simulation room.

Jennifer Aniston reportedly did some home-hunting on Broome Street in SoHo; Aniston may be looking for a New York City home base to coincide with the filming of her currently-in-production movie, Wanderlust, which, ironically, is about a couple who escape city life to live in a commune. (NYPost)

Crossover cross-dresser RuPaul just sold a condo at 296 West 10th Street for  $2.4 million. The runway sensation purchased the property as an (wise, as it turns out) investment in 1998 for $1.095 mil. (Curbed NY)

Executive suite: Internet entrepreneur (career/recruitment site Vault.com) Sam Hamadeh will be putting his 225 East 24th Street loft on the market for $5.5 million (NY Post). The 3,715 square foot loft with 11-foot ceilings and a two-person soaking tub has been seen on “Gossip Girl” and “Law & Order” and the building’s 6,000-foot penthouse did a star turn as actor Shia LeBoeuf’s character’s pad in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. The Gramercy/Flatiron building also gained notoriety earlier this year when Mr. Hamideh and fellow owners went to court to oust (NY Observer) the apartment’s $5k-a-month rental resident, a young doctor-slash-party-animal who threw frequent all-night ragers.
